About the History
17th century · Château with neogothic refaçade on Grand Pavillon (Restoration period, 19th century); 17th-century staircase tower
The Grand Pavillon was originally servants' quarters under Henri IV, later converted to a silkworm farm in the 18th century, and refaçaded in neogothic style during the Restoration period (19th century). A pigeonnier (dovecote) on the estate was a privilege granted by Louis XV to the Comte de Malartic. The property features a 17th-century natural stone staircase tower at the château entrance, and a miroir d'eau (water mirror) where the walls of ancient moats were uncovered during the last dredging.
