Romantic Vineyard Wedding in Gascony at Hount Dessus

Surrounded by rolling hills and soft summer light, Nelson and Courtney hosted their wedding at Hount Dessus, a working vineyard and wedding venue in the Gascony region of Southwest France. It was a destination that reflected both their adventurous spirit and their desire to give guests a memorable experience. For friends and family arriving from the US, the venue felt both remote and magical - a place where time slowed and the landscape itself became part of the celebration. With its panoramic views, rustic charm, and golden evening light, this rustic wedding vineyard near Toulouse offered the couple the perfect balance of relaxation, romance, and regional authenticity.

Romantic Design and Thoughtful Planning

Being the first couple to marry at Hount Dessus, Nelson and Courtney brought their own vision to life with the help of Matthew Oliver Weddings, a destination wedding planner in the south of France whose planning expertise turned an unknown venue into an intimate destination celebration. Their only request was that every guest would feel considered from welcome touches to relaxed moments among the vines. The atmosphere was naturally elegant, shaped by the vineyard’s rustic textures and warm Gascon light. Guests dined outdoors as the sun dipped over the hills, surrounded by rows of vines and long wooden tables filled with laughter, local wine, and the sound of conversation drifting into the night.

Captured Among the Vineyards of Southwest France

The day was beautifully documented by Isasouri Photography, one of the most creative wedding photographers in Southwest France. Her images captured the essence of the region - sunlight over vineyards, the joy of togetherness, and the ease of a celebration rooted in nature. From the emotional ceremony to the glowing evening reception, every frame reflected a story of love and landscape intertwined. For Nelson and Courtney, marrying in Gascony became more than just a destination wedding: it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that embraced the romance, serenity, and generosity of the South of France.

Reception

An outdoor wedding reception setup in the courtyard of a Provençal stone farmhouse with pale blue shutters and terracotta roof tiles. Multiple long wooden farm tables are arranged in rows, surrounded by natural wood cross-back chairs, set for approximately 60–80 guests. The tables are dressed with low greenery and white floral garland runners, white plates, and glassware. String triangle bunting and fairy lights are strung between poles across the courtyard, and a PA speaker system is visible on either side. The decor palette is natural and rustic, combining warm wood tones with soft white and green florals. Wide establishing shot capturing the full reception layout and venue facade.
