Champagne-hued Wedding at Chateau d'Oche in Perigord

Katie and Alex chose the Périgord Vert for its forests, medieval villages, and calm pace, building a weekend that welcomed relatives from home and abroad. Their history with France traced through Alex’s heritage and a Saint-Émilion proposal that set intent. Château d’Oche, a restored estate in the Périgord Vert marrying historic stone and modern comforts, sat among green slopes and quiet lanes. Château d’Oche framed arrivals with gravel underfoot and tall trees overhead, and the countryside air softened nerves as friends reunited. This 19th-century neo-Gothic château in Dordogne in the South of France kept transfers short, so everyone settled quickly into portraits, greetings, and ceremony seating.

Getting Ready

A black-and-white getting-ready image of a bride standing in front of an ornate white-framed floor mirror in an indoor room, with her reflection visible. The bride wears a full-skirted ball gown with off-the-shoulder or detachable puff sleeves and a long veil, with her hair styled in an updo. The image is intentionally motion-blurred, giving the scene a sense of movement as the bride adjusts her dress or sleeves. The room features a decorative lattice-patterned door or screen on the left, a patterned area rug, and an ornate carved bench or chair visible to the right. The composition is a mid-range portrait with strong contrast between the bright white of the gown and veil and the darker room elements.
A getting-ready detail shot of an ivory satin wedding gown hung on a white ornate wrought-iron dress stand in an interior room. The gown features off-the-shoulder puff sleeves and a full ball gown skirt with a long train that pools on the hardwood floor. The room has warm yellow walls, white crown molding, and a dark mahogany mirrored wardrobe with lattice-pattern doors, in which the dress is partially reflected. Two white dressmaker mannequin torsos sit atop the wardrobe. A navy and cream patterned area rug covers part of the floor. The composition is a full-length vertical portrait-style shot capturing the entire dress and its surroundings.

The day’s aesthetic stayed restrained so the architecture could speak. Hydrangeas lifted color against limestone, and a few well-placed florals and fairylights carried the mood into evening. Katie wore the Pronovias Lynn gown, its structured bodice and soft movement holding clean lines in the garden light. Champagne-hued details tied the bridal party together without crowding the scene. Vows drew the courtyard quiet, then glasses rose as speeches began, including the bride’s French tribute to her late father. Menus and music followed a steady rhythm, while Château d’Oche’s terraces and paths offered shade, scent of cut grass, and easy routes for portraits.

As dusk arrived, conversation gathered around long tables and the sky cooled to blue. A serenade for Alex opened the dance set, and a practiced first dance kept cameras attentive. Service moved at a measured pace, and the house closed the night with soft lights across stone. The flow held under one of France’s top wedding Planners Julie Pawsey, whose guidance kept choices focused, and the story was recorded by the experienced wedding Photographer Modern Vintage Weddings, a close friend whose candid approach favored expression and connection. Their gallery now carries extra meaning for the couple, preserving faces, gestures, and the warmth of a Dordogne evening.

The groom stands outdoors surrounded by approximately four groomsmen or male guests who are clapping and gesturing toward him in celebration, likely during the cocktail hour or pre-ceremony gathering. The groom wears a deep forest green velvet tuxedo jacket with a black bow tie, white dress shirt, and a boutonniere featuring pink and cream flowers with greenery. The men around him wear dark navy and black suits, with one wearing a burgundy bow tie; at least one other man also wears a boutonniere.
