Old World Meets Modern Mood at Domaine des Halles near Lyon

Located deep in the forest near Lyon, Domaine des Halles provided a backdrop of grand halls, stone towers, and shaded paths perfectly suited for their celebration. Captured by the lens of Sylvain Bouzat, one of the talented wedding photographers in Lyon who worked with the quiet spring light, and orchestrated by the measured pace of Paloma Wood, a wedding planner in the South of France, the event balanced grandeur with a sense of calm. The luxury French wedding castle’s historic stone and lush surroundings offered a self-contained world where portraits moved fluidly between the courtyard, the colonnade, and the edge of the woods, creating a poetic landscape for this modern love story.

Couture Lines & a Table with French Character

An ivory foundation met deep burgundy, soft pink, and pale green accents that echoed the estate’s historic masonry and woodland surroundings. Paloma Wood styled a sculptural tablescape where anthurium, hydrangea, and seasonal florals floated above natural linen, their fragrance mingling with fresh greenery. Drawing inspiration from French market scenes, artichokes and grapes were reimagined as characterful centerpieces, thoughtfully placed alongside antique green-rimmed plates and slender silver candlesticks.

For the ceremony, Olivia wore a structured mermaid silhouette reinterpreted as a modern two-piece by Les Filles Fidèles - the fabric moved lightly in the crisp air as leaves whispered above the gravel path, creating an elegant yet grounded presence.

A Modern Mood with French Vintage Detail

The design embraced contrast - a balance between contemporary styling and nostalgic French touches. Instead of a traditional tiered cake, the team opted for a clean, rectangular design - a shape growing in popularity for its understated elegance and architectural presence. It sat confidently among vintage china, cut-crystal glassware, and sculptural florals, echoing the editorial’s theme of reinterpreting classic elements in a modern context.

Photographer Sylvain Bouzat captured the atmosphere with a bold, editorial approach, using flash to bring a crisp, luminous energy to each frame. His imagery elevated the contrast of textures and tones - stone against silk, vintage against minimalist form - with the château’s timeworn beauty anchoring the entire story. It’s that quiet tension between old and new that gave the editorial its character: nothing overdone, everything intentional, with those small, thoughtful details that make a celebration feel personal and unforgettable.
