NYC Couple’s Enchanted Wedding at Château de Varennes near Lyon
For a Jewish couple from New York City, the dream was to create a wedding that combined classic French beauty with meaningful personal touches. They found their ideal venue in Château de Varennes, a luxury estate in Burgundy, surrounded by wide lawns, lavender fields, and timeless stone architecture. The setting offered both grandeur and intimacy, allowing the day to flow naturally from ceremony to dinner beneath the open sky. The celebration at this beautiful wedding chateau near Lyon reflected the couple’s heritage and love for travel, uniting guests from across the world for a weekend filled with warmth, music, and the effortless elegance of the North of France countryside.
Ceremony

The ceremony unfolded on this lovely venue surrounded by Burgundy’s vineyards’s sunlit lawn, framed by a breathtaking floral arch of white hydrangeas, classic roses, and delphiniums intertwined with greenery. Rows of cream-cushioned French provincial chairs faced the Burgundy castle’s honey-colored stone façade, while a light breeze carried the scent of lavender through the air. The moment balanced grandeur with intimacy: vows exchanged in the open air, soft light on the couple’s faces, and the countryside as witness. The palette of whites and greens mirrored the estate’s natural beauty, keeping every visual element calm, elegant, and timeless.

As evening approached, the reception revealed a true centerpiece moment. Dorulete Events, one of Lyon’s leading wedding planners, transformed the château’s gardens into an enchanted forest-style dinner. Crystal chandeliers hung from greenery-wrapped poles, creating the illusion of dining beneath a canopy of light. A long banquet table stretched the length of the lawn, dressed in ivory linens, salmon-toned roses, and gold accents that reflected candlelight. Florals by Lilas Wood brought texture and scent, while Matthieu Kobi, among the most admired wedding photographers in Lyon, captured the event’s luminous atmosphere raindrops glistening after a brief shower, laughter echoing through the courtyard, and a sunset that painted the sky rose-gold. The day ended as it began: joyful, refined, and deeply personal - a perfect union of love and place.
