An Eco-Friendly Celebration at Château de Poudenas in Gascony

Held at the magnificent Château de Poudenas, an exceptional wedding venue near Bordeaux, this eco-friendly wedding editorial captured the heart of the French South. With sweeping Gascony views and a courtyard framed by stone arches, the château offered a naturally elegant canvas for a modern celebration inspired by nature. Every detail, from outdoor ceremony scenes to antique French furnishings, reflected thoughtful choices and regional authenticity. The team behind the shoot at this italian style wedding chateau near Dordogne wanted to show that sustainability could sit beautifully alongside creativity, resulting in an atmosphere that felt both grounded and joyful beneath the open sky.

A Showcase of Local Craft and Conscious Design

Every element of this shoot celebrated French craftsmanship and sustainability. Locally sourced delicacies, vintage furniture from Cocotte et Coquette, and wooden reception tables reflected an emphasis on simple materials and minimal impact. Guests could imagine enjoying live music in the courtyard or a late-night treat from the vintage ice cream truck. The Nouvelle Aquitaine château’s panoramic terrace and surrounding valley added depth to the setting, while the day’s design language remained relaxed, rural, and refined. Gascony’s reputation as the “French Tuscany” shone through its architecture, light, and culinary flair.

Collaboration Behind the Scenes

The project came to life through the vision of planner Julie Andrada, one of Bordeaux’s talented wedding planners from Un Mariage en Gascogne, who championed the idea of a sustainable yet stylish event that honoured the land. She worked alongside Isabelle Souriment, one of the most admired wedding photographers in Gascony, whose lens captured both the textures of the setting and the warmth of its people. Together, they drew upon the talents of 24 local artisans and suppliers, proving that mindful weddings in the South of France can be as inspiring as they are responsible.
