A Summer Wedding at Domaine le Castelet near Carcassonne

Tariq and Abbie first met during their first week of medical school in 2010, a friendship that soon deepened into something lasting. Nearly a decade later, a proposal in Venice set the course for their South of France wedding. Domaine le Castelet, a luxurious wedding estate with a restaurant 1 hour from Carcassone, offered the relaxed rhythm they envisioned: open lawns, soft light, and sweeping countryside views. The couple hosted their guests over several days, with long dinners, late conversations, and time to unwind together. The beautiful and large manoir style property’s understated setting balanced calm and comfort, creating a celebration that reflected their story personal, heartfelt, and surrounded by family.

Getting Ready

A black-and-white close-up detail shot taken during the getting-ready portion of a wedding day, showing a bride seated and wearing a white robe with broderie anglaise lace cuffs and a tied waist sash. The focus is drawn to her wrist, where a delicate thin chain bracelet with a small charm is displayed. Both hands are visible in the frame, with the left hand extended toward the camera. The high-contrast lighting creates deep shadows against a dark background, emphasizing the texture of the lace sleeve and the fine detail of the bracelet.

The couple chose a palette of soft neutrals and pale pinks to complement the natural setting of Domaine le Castelet. Abbie carried a bouquet of blush and white blooms mixed with eucalyptus, reflecting the gentle tone of the day. Flowers, stationery, hair, and makeup were all prepared by close friends, adding intimacy and warmth to the preparations. Dinner unfolded outdoors at long tables under fading light, where guests toasted with local wine and shared stories that spanned years of study and travel. Every element felt connected to their shared history and the easy Provençal pace they had hoped for.

The bride wears an ivory ballgown with a lace appliqué bodice featuring off-shoulder floral lace detailing and a full tulle skirt, paired with a cathedral-length veil; she has long blonde wavy hair. The groom wears a light grey suit with tan leather shoes. An officiant stands to the right holding a blue binder, also dressed in a light grey suit. Seated guests are visible in the background, with several wearing teal and blue outfits. The overall styling is relaxed and romantic with a garden-boho aesthetic. Medium-distance portrait shot capturing all three standing figures from head to toe.

Music played a meaningful role, beginning with ceremony compositions by Tariq’s brother Ibrahim. Their first dance, to Blake Shelton’s I’ll Name the Dogs, marked the transition into a lively evening filled with laughter and movement. The celebration continued the next day with a relaxed poolside party featuring paella, pizza, and sunshine. It was an unhurried continuation of the warmth that had defined the entire weekend. The day was photographed by Lizzie Mcneil, one of the most admired wedding photographers in Occitanie, whose images captured the genuine emotion, friendship, and light of this summer celebration at Domaine le Castelet.

The overall stationery palette is white and soft green with gold accents, styled in a classic illustrative design.

First Look

This black-and-white portrait captures what appears to be a first look or an emotional moment between the bride and groom outdoors, with soft dappled light and a blurred leafy background. The bride is bowing her head and wiping away tears with one hand while holding a large bouquet of peonies, small filler flowers, and trailing foliage with the other; she wears a lace-detailed dress and a flowing veil. The groom stands just behind her, laughing broadly with evident joy, dressed in a light-colored suit with a bow tie and a small floral boutonnière on his lapel. The image is a close-up two-shot with strong contrast between the bright highlights on the couple and the darker background foliage.
