A Pastel Weekend at Château de Courtomer in Normandy
Location: Courtomer • Normandy • North of France
In the soft countryside of Normandy, Summer Nicole and Michael brought family and friends together for a spring wedding that unfolded with focus and ease. The morning opened to clipped lawns and misted light as guests arrived along quiet lanes leading to Château de Courtomer, an 18th-century wedding chateau in Normandy surrounded by farmland and formal gardens. The chateau which can accommodate up to 15 guests in its luxurious bedrooms offered calm and continuity each space at the château serving a clear purpose from portraits to ceremony to dinner. Their first look took place beside a centuries-old tree, where the air felt cool and still, a moment of pause before the day began in full.
Pastel Florals, Pronovias Organza, and a Ceremony in Bloom
The design drew directly from the season, resting on lavender, blush, peach, and ivory to echo the tones of nearby fields. Summer wore a Pronovias gown in layered organza, its floral appliqués mirrored by her cathedral-length veil that moved lightly across the grass. The ceremony unfolded beneath a rounded arbor framed with meadow-style blooms, their soft edges blending naturally into the stone surroundings. Guests followed the couple from the garden to the salons, where reception tables carried compote arrangements, brass candlesticks, and tapered blush and lavender candles. As mist cleared, Château de Courtomer’s facade glowed, roses climbing along the windows in the shifting light.
Oysters, Candlelight, and a Celebration in Motion
The evening followed a rhythm shaped by shared tastes and thoughtful planning. A raw bar of oysters and shrimp led cocktail hour, followed by generous small plates - duck empanadas, pork belly bao, lamb lollipops, bacon-wrapped scallops, and brie tartlets. Dinner continued the tone of quiet abundance with escargot in mushroom caps, prawns, filet mignon, and truffled whipped potatoes. Coffee accompanied cake and a macaron tower as conversation lifted across the candlelit table. The day came together through destination wedding planner Summer Nicole, one of the North of France’s most detail-focused wedding planners, and was photographed by Melanie Anne, among the most elegant destination wedding photographers in Normandy. Together, they crafted a day that felt grounded, graceful, and genuinely celebratory from first look to final toast.
