An Intimate Japanese Wedding at Domaine des Halles near Lyon

Location: Lyon, Auvergne, South of France

Domaine des Halles, an exceptional wedding chateau near Lyon with orangery became the setting for a Japanese couple’s elegant celebration of love, intimacy, and the art de vivre à la française. Surrounded by 40 guests, the pair embraced the timeless beauty of the French countryside, where the beautiful Auvergne castle for weddings and events met the delicate refinement of Japanese aesthetics. Planned with precision and grace by Écrin de Nacre, an experienced wedding planner in Lyon, this wedding offered a study in quiet elegance a day where every gesture, every detail, spoke softly of intention and connection.

A Morning of Poise and a Floral Indoor Ceremony

Morning began in Domaine des Halles’s serene suites, with sunlight filtering through high windows and soft music filling the air. The bride prepared alongside her closest friends, wearing a custom Mademoiselle Rêve gown a design both ethereal and structured. Her veil, embroidered in Provence with the phrase “Until the End of Times,” completed the look with quiet poetry. In another wing of the château, the groom wrote his vows and dressed in a classic tuxedo, the anticipation of the day visible in every small motion.

Their first look took place in private, framed by the château’s stone archways and early blooms a moment tenderly documented by Lyrem Photography, one of Lyon’s talented wedding photographers known for their natural, luminous style.

Inside, the floral design transformed one of the grand reception rooms into an indoor garden. Under Écrin de Nacre’s direction, florists created sculptural arrangements of soft roses, greenery, and delicate branches that framed the ceremony space as if nature itself had entered the château. Live musicians and an officiant guided the vows, while guests watched in quiet joy the atmosphere one of warmth, balance, and understated grandeur.

A Refined Tea Party and Dance Beneath the Stars

As afternoon light faded, the mood shifted outdoors for an elegant tea party a thoughtful nod to Japanese tradition infused with French artistry. Vintage china, crystal glassware, and linen in pale tones adorned the tables, each detail chosen to evoke intimacy and refinement. Guests enjoyed fine teas and delicate pastries as laughter filled the terrace, the château gardens alive with conversation.

Reception

The couple is dancing and celebrating with approximately 25–30 guests during what appears to be a lively reception dance floor moment inside a grand indoor venue with floor-to-ceiling wood-panelled walls and warm chandelier lighting visible in the background. The bride wears an ivory ball gown with floral 3D appliqué detailing, a cathedral-length veil, and a cream faux-fur or feather wrap over her shoulders, while the groom is dressed in a classic black tuxedo with a black bow tie. Guests surrounding them have their arms raised and are visibly cheering and laughing, with gold confetti scattered across the marble floor; guest attire includes a burgundy suit, green sequined gown, sage green lace dress, lilac gown, and multicolored floral print dress, reflecting a festive and varied dress code. The shot is a wide, candid mid-shot capturing the full scene with the couple at the center of the frame and the crowd forming a natural aisle on either side.
